Your photos are captured and printed on-device by default. Digital copies live in a protected environment — accessible through your unique QR code or an account that claims the photo with the printed short code.

Privacy bubble visualization

Most photo booths upload your face to the cloud without asking. We built ours differently.

On-device capture and print

Photos are captured and printed on the Trace Studio hardware. A digital copy is stored so you can access it from the QR code on your receipt during the retention window.

Protected digital storage

Full-color digital copies are hosted in a secured environment. Access requires the unique short-code printed on your thermal receipt — no browsing, no public gallery.

Zero personal data at the booth

No sign-up, no login, no permissions. Just step up, take a photo, and walk away with your receipt. We don’t know who you are unless you choose to tell us.

Philosophy

Trace Studio Privacy Architecture

Trace Studio privacy architecture

A system that captures and prints on-device, with digital copies securely stored behind receipt-based access for a limited retention period.

The Trace Studio captures your photo and prints it locally. A digital copy is uploaded so you can access it from the QR code on your receipt during the retention window.

Photos are not listed in a public feed. Access is tied to the receipt QR code or to an account that claims the photo with the printed short code.

Walk up, take a photo, and get your receipt - no sign-up required. If you want easier re-access, you can link photos to an account with your phone number.

See how Trace Studio keeps
your photos private

Your gallery stays private. You can optionally use your device camera, but Trace Studio never accesses your photo gallery, contacts, or files. Only what you capture in the moment.

No public gallery. Ever. Your photos are never indexed, listed, or browsable. There is no feed, no discover page, no way for anyone to stumble onto your images.

No facial recognition. We don't scan, analyze, or store biometric data. The camera captures a photo — nothing more.

Delete anytime. Create an account to link photos to your profile, or don't. If you later want account-linked data removed, you can request deletion through support.

More ways you're protected

Control what gets captured

Choose your photo before it prints. Retake as many times as you want. Receipt-accessible photos are retained for about 90 days instead of indefinitely.

Your data, your call

No account? You can still use the booth. Create one? You can link photos to your profile and request deletion of account-linked data.

Venue operators see numbers only

Location partners receive aggregate counts and peak-hour analytics. They never see individual photos, names, or any personal data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Photos are captured and printed on the device. A digital copy is stored in our protected environment so the QR code on your receipt can open it during the retention window. If you create an account, you can also link photos to your profile with the printed short code.

No. Photos are private by default. Venue operators receive aggregate analytics, but not individual photos, names, or a public photo feed.

No. You can walk up to any Trace Studio, take a photo, and receive your thermal receipt without providing personal information at the booth. Optionally, you can create an account using your phone number to link photos to your profile for easier access.

Digital copies accessed via QR code are typically retained for 90 days. If you create an account and later request deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Without an account, the primary link to your photo is the physical receipt in your possession.

At the booth: nothing personal. When you scan the QR code: basic access logs (timestamp, device type). If you create an account: your phone number for authentication. We do not use cookies for tracking, do not run advertising, and do not sell any data to third parties.
